(Headquarters: Hsinchu, Taiwan, Chairman: Sen Chou Lo, hereinafter referred to as iCatch) have concluded a strategic partnership to combine both companies’ cutting-edge technologies in the field of edge AI, which is expected to grow in the future.

１．Background and Outline of the Partnership

In recent years, AI processors (SoCs) operating at the edge have been attracting attention due to the spread of AI technology. On the other hand, engineers who develop products using edge AI processors are required to both catch up with the latest rapidly developing edge AI technologies and achieve the functional and performance requirements of their products, and there are many challenges in achieving these goals with limited resources.

To solve this issue, DMP and iCatch have launched a one-stop hardware and software service for developers of edge AI camera systems, such as camera systems, security cameras, and cameras for robotics, combining DMP’s AI image recognition model and iCatch’s imaging SoC as the first service of their edge AI solutions.

DMP’s AI image recognition model has been widely used commercially in Japan for ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) and DMS (Driver Monitoring System) applications due to its high recognition accuracy and high-speed processing. On the other hand, iCatch’s imaging SoCs have been widely adopted by major Japanese automobile manufacturers, parts suppliers, and dashcam manufacturers through Taiwanese and Korean ODM manufacturers due to its high-performance image processing capability.

Leveraging the strengths and proven track records of both companies, DMP and iCatch will provide optimal hardware systems such as SoC, SoM (System on Module), and camera modules according to customer needs, as well as contract development (professional services) as needed. In addition, DMP will provide its edge AI models (ZIA SAFE series) and professional services on custom AI models as a set of hardware systems. This enables customers to shorten development time, reduce development costs, and bring competitive AI-enabled systems to market faster.

DMP and iCatch have provided this service to some customers in Japan and overseas in advance, and it has been well received. From October 2024, the service will be fully deployed, making a broad contribution to improving customers’ development efficiency and competitiveness.
