DMP, Launch External Sales of Camera System, the Result of Collaboration with Yamaha Motor

Digital Media Professionals Inc. (Headquarters: Nakano-ku, Tokyo, President & COO: Tsuyoshi Osawa, hereinafter referred to as DMP) announces that it will start accepting orders in the first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2022 for a high-precision compact embedded monocular camera system.

Since its signing of a business and capital alliance agreement with Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Iwata, Shizuoka, Japan, President: Yoshihiro Hidaka, hereinafter referred to as Yamaha Motor) in May 2019, DMP has been steadily advancing the business alliance in the following areas: collaboration in the final product realization process from algorithm development to product installation through the application of AI technology; development of automatic and autonomous driving systems in the low-speed field; development of labor-saving and automation systems in the agricultural and other fields using robotics technology; and development of advanced safe driving assistance systems for all mobility products.
DMP launches external sales of the camera system, the result of such collaboration.

The high-precision, compact embedded monocular camera system combines a 35mm x 40mm compact embedded camera module equipped with Sony Semiconductor Solutions’ high-sensitivity image sensor “IMX390” and a compact FPGA module.
This development kit consists of a sensor module, an FPGA module, an extension module, and an SDK (Software Development Kit). By customizing the FPGA module and establishing a PC-based evaluation environment with SDK, a monocular camera system can be easily developed in a short period of time according to user specifications.
DMP offers a variety of support services to add values to customers’ products and services, such as the provision of reference designs for FPGA designs including the “ZIA™ ISP” ISP core and “ZIA™ DV740” AI processor, custom FPGA designs, AI recognition software development according to user applications, and system creation linked to cloud environments such as AWS (Amazon Web Services).

We have developed a small, low-power, and low-cost camera system as a development platform for computer vision and AI applications that can be applied to all mobility products. DMP has contributed to the optimization of this system by its professional services with advanced AI computing technology,
said Mr. Minoru Iida, Senior General Manager of Research & Development Section, Technical Research & Development Center of Yamaha Motor.

We are very excited to launch external sales of the camera system, the result of the collaboration with Yamaha Motor. We believe that this system and the associating various support services will make a significant contribution to shortening the development period, reducing cost and increasing the added value of our customers’ products. We will continue to collaborate firmly with Yamaha Motor and contribute to solving our customers’ problems by offering the results of the business alliance,
said Tsuyoshi Osawa, President and COO of DMP.

DMP will provide a wide range of supports, from optimal development kits to mass production support, for customers who develop embedded systems for mobility products, safety assistance systems, and surveillance systems in the industrial equipment field, including factory automation, logistics, and security.
